Cat Haven Volunteer

    • Must be at least 18 years old

    • Must be able to volunteer for a minimum of one assigned shift per week (no drop-ins) and commit to coming regularly each week

    • Past or present cat ownership desired

    • Must have patience with scared, overactive and inquisitive cats

    • Must be able to handle 5-8 cats in one kennel

  • Volunteer Coordinator and FMAR staff

  • Trained volunteers/personnel will give a minimum of 2 hours of training. Training will consist of both verbal and hands on training.

    After completion of training, the trainer will watch the trainee complete a minimum of 2 more “hands on” sessions before leaving trainee to work on his or her own.

    • Clean and sanitize kennels as directed and trained

    • Feeding and watering the cats/kittens as trained

    • Washing, sanitizing, drying and storing kennel dishes and your hands as trained

    • Replace bedding materials as needed

    • Look for signs of distress/illness in the animals

If you meet the requirements listed above, the next step is to complete and submit our online Volunteer Application. After your application is reviewed, you will be contacted by our Volunteer Coordinator. It may be that you meet the requirements and are free to volunteer on a specific shift but we may not have any openings for new volunteers. If that is the case, your information will be kept on file and you will be notified if an opening becomes available.
