Virtual Adoptions
Make a difference in their lives, every day, without bringing them home!
Not all of our residents are ready to leave FMAR. Some have already made a furrever home in our communal cat rooms, and others are still adapting to having humans around. We’d love for you to get to know them!
We gave each of them a chance to introduce themselves. Now you can help give these darlings the best possible home without taking them home.

Kamden
Hi, it’s me, FMAR’s Sweetheart. I hold the record for most almost-adoptions, but all of my potential adopters have realized the same thing: I love my friends here too much to leave them. I’m at the center of every cuddle pile. I’m never by myself; I’m everyone’s best friend. Everyone loves me, and I love them.
So we’ve finally found the perfect solution, the best of both worlds. Now you can finally ‘adopt’ me without separating me from my friends!

Twinkie
I’m a big boy with a big heart. There’s just a whole lot of me to love! When I was brought here, I was covered in engine oil from living in someone’s car. Even with many baths, it took months to get me all the way clean. I was so scared I wouldn’t let any human come within eight feet of me. Now, after a few years at FMAR, I’ve learned petting is really nice, and I’ve even tried sitting on a lap once or twice! I don’t see what all the fuss is about there, though. I like perching on my toy box better, where I can show everyone the whole length of my glorious belly.
-
Willow
A playful, silly girl, Willow is the town artist. Her favorite activity is waiting for the windows to be cleaned so that she can make beautiful paintings in the moisture on the glass. When the windows are not wet, she is an avid birder and spends most of her time chittering at the wildlife outside. She is also a frequent anthropologist who enjoys observing how her fellow cats interact with humans, though she prefers not to be part of the interaction herself. Maximum pets: 1

Abby
Yes, I’m as beautiful as the stuffed animal you had as a kid. Yes, you may look. No, you may not touch! A lot of long-haired cats need grooming help, but I take great care of myself. I’m a strong, independent cat who don’t need no human to groom her.
-
Rosa
You know those jokes about introverts getting adopted by an extrovert? Well, that’s me and my best friend Brooke. We’ve been around each other as long as I can remember. I’m never more confident than when we’re together. I’m a shy girl, but like many introverts, I have a few chosen people (and cats) that I come to life around. I don’t like to be approached while I’m on ground level, but I’ll say hello if you come up to my favorite shelf.
-
Brooke
I might look like a princess, and feel like one, too, but don’t let that fool you! I’m actually very down to earth. I hang out a lot with Rosa on our cozy top shelf nest, but I come down whenever the petting begins. I like helping other cats groom themselves and sometimes silly humans, too.
-
Ruby
A talented singer, Ruby is one of the most vocal ladies at the shelter. When she wants attention, she’ll chirp out little love songs from the top of the nearest shelf. Give her pets when she wants them, and you may even be rewarded with the ultimate gift–two tiny paws on your shoulders as she reaches up to give you a hug.
-
Dulce
Hey, it’s me. I’m the cat your momma warned you about. I’m gorgeous and I’m used to getting my way–I guess you could say I’m kind of a bad boy. If there’s action around here, I want in on it. The pets? Mine. The play time? I’m there. The treats? You guessed it. I was made to be the center of attention, and I’ll make sure you know it!
-
Smores
If you’re looking for a distinguished gentleman, look no further. I used to be afraid of anyone touching me, but with patience and treats, I’ve proven even an old cat can learn new tricks. I’d still rather be snoozing away in my box on the corner shelf, but I’d like to think I can be a very gentle and relaxing companion for someone who’s willing to spend quiet time with me. Imagine this: a cozy night by the fire. You, reading your silly human books. Me, sleeping where the fire can warm my fur. Sounds nice, right?
-
Tony
A dapper creature with my tiny white tuxedo chest, I am a gentleman cat through and through. I accept pets and brushing with dignity, but I won’t beg for your attention. I’m on good terms with all my neighbors and while not especially active, I am quite the expert birdwatcher.
-
Jack
Have you ever wanted to meet a pirate? Well, here I am! I lost me eye when I was a kitten, but that’s never slowed me down; I’m the captain of my own fate! They call me a pirate because I’m as fearless as can be, and I’ve never met a fight I didn’t like. I love a good ruckus. Me best friends are raccoons and me girlfriend be named after treasure: Ah, Emerald, my sweet lady love! I also be the cat of a thousand nicknames: Cap’n Jack, Hungry Jack, Handsome Jack, Jack O’ Lantern, these be but a few. It doesn’t matter what name you call me, though, because I answer to no one but me!
-
Clark
The resident “bad boy”, Clark refused to fill out his adoption profile. In fact, he shredded it right in front of us while making direct eye contact. Clark is a heartbreaker. He’ll lure you in with his friendly tail swish and then latch onto your ankles like a lamprey. He acts sweet as pie one moment and wants to destroy everything around him the next. We don’t know why he’s like this. We only know that, like every bad boyfriend, even when you know his ways it’s hard to not fall into his traps.
-
Peter Brady
I’m the friendliest of the Brady Bunch–I love a good pet or brushing, and I’ve even been known to try a lap or two if I trust you. There are three of us Bradys and we’re all nearly identical. We all dote on Kamden and like to sleep in a huge snuggled up pile with our friends. You can tell me apart by the pink mole on the back of one ear.
-
Mike Brady
The middle child of the Brady Bunch, I’m not as snuggly as Peter or as coy as Jan. I’m just kind of…laid back. I like curling up with Kamden and Dulce, and I don’t mind a pet or two, but really I just want to hang out by the windows. You can tell me apart by the little nick out of the edge of one ear.
-
Jan Brady
I’m the most aloof of the Brady Bunch. I snuggle up with Kamden, my brothers, and the other cats, but I’m not crazy about humans touching me. You can tell me apart because unlike my brothers, I’ve kept both my ears pristine.
-
Stanley
I may be in the senior room, but I’m no old grandpa! I love people, and when someone comes in to pet me, I just can’t hold still. I’ll walk in little circles all around you so you can see exactly how handsome I am. I love being brushed and I’m great at making friends. My friends call me Stan the Man.

Chance
Once upon a time, I was a nervous kitchen cat prone to seizures. It took a while to find the right balance for me, but I’ve really come out of my shell in the senior room. Stanley’s been showing me that I can like to be petted, and I’ve been showing Frank how to be more social. I don’t always want to be touched, but when I do, I won’t let you leave and my rumble fills up the whole room. Now I’m confident, happy, and in my prime!
-
Frank
The oldest and shyest of the Senior Room boys, Frank likes sunbeams, blankets, and lounging in the window boxes. He’s not really a ‘people’ person, but he’s been known to enjoy cuddling up with Stanley or Chance.
-
Oprah
I’m kind of a queen bee, because I know what I deserve. I like undivided attention, so if you’re petting me, you’d better be petting only me! Despite that, I’m a sweet girl. I’ve lived here with my sister Dinah since we were kittens.
-
Clayton
Gorgeous and brooding, Clayton is a mysterious boy. When he’s in the mood, he’ll wrap himself around you and let you pet and brush him for ages. When he’s not in the mood, even being on the other side of the room is too close to him. Only Clayton himself knows what dictates these changes. From skittish to confident and back again, earning his trust is a constant but worthwhile process.
-
O'Neil
I’m a gentle boy who’s slowly been getting his confidence around people. I can usually be found by the windows in a pile of other cats. I’m a ‘the more the merrier!’ kind of cat! I’ve become more used to being touched and brushed, and I’m most comfortable with humans when my friends are right there with me.
-
Pedro
I’m a playful boy. I’m kind of the little brother of the Adult room. I try to teach these old guys how to have fun. I get a little nervous sometimes because everyone in here is bigger than me, especially the humans, but mostly I’ve settled in pretty well. I like hanging out in the padded litter boxes where I can see all the action as soon as it happens.
-
Beth
Ladylike Beth loves to sit on the outdoor chairs in the afternoon sun like she’s awaiting guests to arrive for tea. The politest of our residents, she also frequents the kitchen and office area, keeping the staff and volunteers company with her gentle presence while they are hard at work.
-
Kanga
Parkour artist Kenga can often be seen running the grounds, perched on the fence posts, or even vaulting onto the clinic roof. She almost never goes inside, though you may sometimes find her in the parking lot, curled up on the sun-warmed hood of someone’s car for a mid-day nap.
-
Reba
I like sunning myself in the parking lot and escorting volunteers to and from their cars. I love a good shoulder rub, but my tail is for looking at, not touching. I’ve been an FMAR barn cat nearly my whole life. I can’t imagine being anywhere else!
-
Sasha
The newest of our barn cats, Sasha has become the guardian of the shelter’s back patio. She likes to watch the cats move around inside the shelter, or perch in her nest to greet volunteers coming out to work. She doesn’t make any sound when she ‘meows’, but communicates with the silly humans through her distinctive, raspy purr.
