Petco Foundation Invests In Lifesaving Work of Friends of Michigan Animals Rescue

Grant of $56,000.00 will extend efforts to save more animal lives in Southeast MI.

Belleville (January 29th, 2016) – Friends of Michigan Animals Rescue (FMAR) of Belleville, MI today announced it has been awarded a $56,000.00 grant from the Petco Foundation to support the shelter expansion project by adding 24 additional dog kennels.

FMAR is a nonprofit, no-kill shelter in the Wayne County community, and its mission is to protect animals and residents by promoting a healthy and safe environment for all. Since 2003, FMAR has found homes for over 5,000 companion animals, all the while staying true to its original reason for existence, to offer a no-kill shelter for cats and dogs.  FMAR aids the animals and individuals in Washtenaw, Wayne, Monroe, and Van Buren counties in southeast Michigan by reducing the euthanasia rate of companion animals and instead placing them into loving forever homes.

The Petco Foundation investment will help to Friends of Michigan Animals build 24 safe, sanitary dog kennels to more than double FMAR’s current dog holding capacity.  With 24 new dog kennels, FMAR seeks to increase its life saving efforts of taking in adoptable animals at risk of euthanasia.

“In December we receive an email from Petco to say they had granted our request and would be sending us a check to cover half the cost to add 24 more dog kennels in our 8400 square foot barn!!  As you can guess we were in shock and then over the top with excitement. Imagine how many more lives this will save!   This is the biggest grant FMAR has ever received and we can’t thank Petco enough for having enough trust in us to get this project off the ground running. FMAR would like to extend a HUGE thank you to the Petco Foundation“, said Marcia LaFramboise, Vice President.
